LETTER NO 8
A Year of Love in the Mountains
Finding a space that fits three people comfortably and respectfully, isn’t always easy. Most listings are made for two, and when you mention “three adults,” the tone can shift. But every now and then, you stumble on a place that feels like it was meant for you.
Tucked in the lush hills outside Medellín, we discovered a beautiful property with two rustic wooden cabins. Each one sleeps four, so the whole space can host up to eight guests but for our anniversary getaway, it was just us three, surrounded by nature, peace, and total privacy.

From the moment we arrived, the air felt lighter. The view stretched endlessly across the valley, hammocks swayed lazily between the trees, and the smell of firewood drifted from the outdoor fireplace. Breakfast was included every morning, fresh fruit, eggs, arepas, and strong Colombian coffee served right in the treehouse dining cabin. We cooked together, laughed through our playlist rotations, watched a movie on the projector inside the yurt, and ended each night soaking in the jacuzzi beneath the stars.
A kind local couple managed the property, helping with everything from towels to firewood. When I booked, I asked them to decorate the bed with balloons, champagne, and an “I love you” sign. They probably thought it was for two people, not three but when we surprised our third partner, they just smiled. Maybe they were curious, maybe they already knew. Either way, their warmth made it easy to just be ourselves.
We even went on a small hike to a nearby waterfall, one of those simple, grounding moments where you realize how far love can take you when it’s free from judgment.
This anniversary wasn’t about fancy dinners or grand gestures. It was about belonging, to each other, and to a space that let us exist without explanation.
If you ever need a break from the city, whether you’re a couple, a throuple, or just someone seeking stillness, this cabin is worth the drive.
